Our Philosophy

About Me

At Gaddyrow Gundogs, we pride ourselves on breeding fit and healthy Labradors with sound temperaments. Our dogs are primarily from working lines with some show breeding, producing strong, good-looking, physically fit labradors.

Bred to work all day in the field, here on the hills and moors in the North East of Scotland, but equally happy and relaxed at home or out and about socially; at the beach, walking the hills and forests, in the coffee shop or at the pub!

Our dogs are first and foremost family pets, who live with us in the house and spend time together with us, at work and play. They really are part of our family.

As well as making great working companions for the field, because of their easy going natures, keen to learn, biddable personalities, some of our pups have also been trained and used as Assistance dogs, Pets as Therapy dogs, School dogs, and have been used for Search and Rescue.

With many going to join families, to become much loved family pets and companions.

Karen & Tia at Crufts

With our breeding combining both working and show lines, we decided to try our hand in the show ring and were successfully placed in the BASC Gamekeeper classes at Crufts with Tia, our founding matriarch.

We are now working towards stepping into the show ring with Mac, and are seeing some early promise.

We are constantly striving to improve our lines, using stud dogs to complement our bitches, always with the aim of producing healthy dogs with confident, easy-going temperaments. Labradors true to their origins, fit for function, biddable and eager to please, with the drive to work in the field and a strong, athletic physique.

What’s coming next for us… Our 4th generation of homebred Gaddyrow Gundog Labradors, Mac and Piper, have now taken up the mantle.

I can’t recommend Karen highly enough, she is an amazing breeder who puts so much care and attention into everything. She has provided us with lots of advice and information and given us regular updates along the journey.

When taking our new pup to the vets for her vaccination, as said by someone on here previously, our vet also commented on what a lovely healthy pup she is. We are incredibly happy with the new addition to our family, thank you Karen!
